Steak and Potato Soup

1 lb beef round steak cut into inch pieces
1 lb small red potatoes cut into 1/4 inch slices (about 4 cups)
2 med carrots chopped
2 stalks celery chopped
1 6oz jar sliced mushrooms drained (or fresh!)
1 small onion chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 tsp pepper
1 32oz carton beef broth (or 4 cups of your own)

in 5-6 qt slow cooker, combine all ingredients
cover and cook on low 8-9 hours
if you would like it thicker, in a small bowl combine flour and water, or cornstarch and water
mix into soup, cook on high 30 minutes or until desired thickness is reached
